Problems with transitions

We were editing the final cut of our video we found that we had a problem with one of our flashes between one of our scenes. This was due to the fact that a piece of our video had been copied from a later part of our raw footage that we had taken earlier. This part of raw footage had already been deleted, so was difficult to discover. It then used that clip to cover the transition and overlapped the main clip in the transition, so you got a ghost image of a boy playing on the sound mixing boards.

The way in which we solved this issue was to use adobe premier elements to put the transition a split second earlier so it would not use the image of the boy on the mixing decks and would get a image instead of the corridor so it would not have as many continuity errors in that part of our video.

The only problem with doing this is the fact that it does make the footage seem more disjointed due to the shortened clip of the corridor this makes it harder for the audience to accept the video and cannot be as fully immersed in the video.

costume design

music is soon to be added.

Today I have added the music for our video which is a soft rock based genre type of sound. this was relitvely easy, but we did this on my co-workers apple laptop which has specific software which can be used to put sound onto a video relitively easily. The only problem that we had was that the piece of music that we were using was short by about 2 seconds so we had to copy a piece of the music from a earlier part of the track and sloted it in the right place. This meant that we did have to get the two sound clips perfectly allined so that there was no gap in the sound, which would have made it seem like bad continueity editing. we then ultered the sound for the ending scene of the film where george is playing on the paino, by lowering the volume of the first couple of notes which makes it a more smooth transition audibly and makes it less jaring to the audience.

editing more and more but finally finished it XD

We finally have finsished the major parts of editing the video which means that we can upload it to youtube and start to evaluate the video. When we were in the final stages of editing me and my co-worker had several issues with editing the video the first

Adding credits to the beginning of the film.

For our film we needed to add pre-film credits which tell the audience who the main characters are and who has made this film. we have also added names of the different stereotypical groups to the video when those groups appear this also gives the audience a idea of the different groups of people. This took around an hour to do as we had to do this to the frame. This gives the clip a more authentic feel to the video and

The films poster.

This is our poster for our movie that will be shown as posters round the world to advertise our movie. It is a more complicated poster than that of the one in our film clip this is due to the fact that it needs to advertise when the film is due to be coming out and also

How our fonts for the begining ofour film conform to the stereotypical view.

For our begining of our film we have big bubble writing that tells the audience who the main actors are and who thewy are playing. The font that we have used for this writing is a big form of yellow bubble writing. this form of font is commonly used in multiple musicial based films like "Hairspray", "Highschool Musicial 1-3" and partly in "School of Rock".

Finished Photoshoped Images of stereotypical groups.

For our video we had initially thought we would have enough excess time to include a photo in the video at the end of each scene with a stereotypical group in it. These photos are the same ones as shown before in the previous post, but these ones have been altered in photoshop to cut out the background. We have then replaced this now white space with a new background which is A4 lined paper with stereotypical drawings of different images. The problem was that we in the end did not have enough time to add all of these photos to the video otherwise we would have overrun our designated time allowance. So we have had to leave out these photos from our video which is a great shame because they would have added that bit extra to the video to make it better. Also it could have also got us extra marks on using different technologies to make our video better. The new backgrounds that we added were drawn by hand to give the style of looking like it was done by a school child who is still learning. This ties in with our theme of our musical being set in a school.

This photo is of the stereotypical group called the "skaters" which are in our video. For this photo we have used Photo shop to remove the background and have put in its place a A4 lined sheet of paper with different stereotypical drawings. The pictures that we thought that were stereotypical of "Skaters" were skateboards, skate ramps, makeshift skulls and crossbones, Radioactive symbol a danger sign and a lightning bolt. To me and my partner these are the images that came to mind when thinking of this form of stereotype which shows that it is a pro dominate in the school environment.

This is a finished photo of of stereotypical group called the "Nerds" we have used the same effects as the picture above and have removed the background and put the A4 background in with pictures drawn on. The images that we have included in the background for this photo are a cloud with chess club written inside it. This is a stereotypical misunderstanding of "nerds" as people think that they always go to clubs that are seemingly boring. Also we have included Pythagoras, a hydrocarbon structure, maths equations, writing saying "I love Trig" and "wear protective glasses with a picture below of safety goggles. We have got our inspiration for these pieces of writing and drawing from different subjects, these being maths and science mostly.

This is a finished photo of our stereotypical group called the "Emos" it again has been edited in photoshop and has had a A4 piece of paper in the background with pictures on. For this picture we have tried to keep to the stereotypical image of "Emos" by trying to make the background as depressing as possible which me and my co-worker have tried to achieve. In the background we have included a weeping angel with its wings bones exposed at the bottom and unable to fly. Also there is a picture of a heartagram which is a symbol of "Emos" which is stereotypically on many different types of products like bags and is a common symbol that certain bands use. There is a Teddy bear that is being rained on and is being struck by lightning which tries to add a bit of humour to the background. It says in the background "I love MCR" which means i love My Chemical Romance which is a famous band that is known for being popular with the "Emo" culture. Also there is a broken heart in the background which symbolises most of the "Emo" culture being emotionally unstable because of different circumstances.
This is a finished photo of the stereotypical group called the "Chav" it has had the same effects added as the previous photos and has its own style of background. The pictures that we have added to the background are a picture of a gun and knife these are the stereotypical items that are associated with the group. Also it says "motha fuglar" which was a mickey take of the other more ruder version of this saying, this is another stereotypical view that "Chavs" are rude to most of the general public. The trainer on the background is a symbol of the sort of clothing they are typically seen in, these being trainers, tracksuit bottoms and a hoody. Also the amount of disorderly lines shows the chaos and irrationality of these type of people.

Unfinished photo of the Chavs

This is a photo of our stereotypcal group called the "Chavs" it is still to be finished by removing the background in Photoshop and to insert a new one. These types of people are seen as the rebels of the school as they do not attend classes and bunk off to do what they like. They are stereotypicaly seen to be wearing a type of clothing like a "hoody" tracksuit bottoms and trainers which are usually made by either Nike or Puma. Also of late they have started to wear american styled base ball caps.

Unfinished photo of the Skaters

For our video we have decided to do a part on the stereotypical group called the Skaters, these people are stereotypically layed back and do not have the same problems as the rest of the people. There attitude towards their school life is usually unsatisfactory or under par. This means that they aren't the brightest of people when it comes to brains. But they make up for this lack of intelligence with that of skill with different types of human powered vehicles, like a skateboard or a pair of roller skates. This photo also has not yet been edited in photoshop to remove the background.

Unfinished photo of the Emos

This is the photo of our stereotypical group of "emos". This picture has not yet been edited in photoshop to remove the background so that we can substitute a new one in, this will allow us to put a picture behind the people and make it more professional. The mood for this picture is meant to be very dark and moody, this is due to the stereotype of the emo as being very depressed and sad. For the background for this picture I am thinking of putting iconic emo symbols for example some of the pictures below.

Unfinished photo of the nerds

For our media we have done a section on the stereotype of the nerd/ geek we thought this photo would be good due to the fact that they look like the ideal stereotype which allows the audience to engage with the video because they can reconise and relate to these people. Also I thought this picture has a humous side to it so it could amuse the audience. This is also a major part of a musical becuase otherwise the mucial would be boring and numbing even if it did have a good storyline. This picture also still has to be edited in photoshop to remove the background.

Filming the new section of transition from the garden area to the library.

Today we filmed a new section of transition footage where we go from the garden area of the school where the "emo's" scene was filmed to the library where the nerds scene was filmed. This section had to be redone due to time constraints on the video we had been set.

The part of the film opening that we cut out was the female main character as this was easy to cut out due to only having to make slight adjustments to the transition stage footage and also it was not a crucial part of the opening of the film. That scene would take a considerable amount of our finite time available out of our video.

when we were filming we had virtually no problems that we encountered. The only problems that we encountered were that of the other people on the corridors which we did not wish to have in our transition footage. Also we had the problem of strong sunlight which made the picture being recorded very light intensive which made it difficult to see what had been filmed.

The ways that we solved these issues was to make sure that the corridor was empty before doing the footage which was very difficult due to our school being very busy constantly throughout the day. For the problem of the intense light from the sun glaring into the camera lens was solved by jack my partner for this project, putting his hand in front and above the camera to cut down on the camera glare which massively improved the visibility and quality of the picture.
